I have the BlackBerry Pearl. I was surprised at what all the phone could do. I was disappointed with the keyboard and the way the BlackBerry deals with battery power though.
The QWERTY keyboard is clumsy and takes some getting used to. The phone has a calendar, address book, memo pad and task list that sync nicely with Outlook.
I installed a bunch of apps on the Pearl and the speed of the phone is still good. It is decent for holding calls and has only dropped calls in known bad areas. The one thing that did slow the Pearl down was an OS upgrade. Not sure why I upgraded and I am not sure why the upgrade slowed the phone down so much. But overall it is a decent phone. It does SprintTV, GPS, and speakerphone too. The speakerphone is clumsy but works.
The major problem I have with my BlackBerry Pearl is the way it deals with low battery power. The crazy phone turns off the radio so you have no bluetooth or cell service when the phone turns the radio off. However, you can still work with your calendar, documents, etc. Who is the genius who thought I would rather work on a Word document versus making an important phone call? Even if you plug in power to start recharging the battery, it will be 20 minutes before the BlackBerry Pearl will let you turn the radio on again!

I really don't know why anybody would get the iPhone. The US version doesn't do nearly as much as the unlocked European versions. Not to mention the hard drive is fixed in size. How do you upgrade the darn thing? Granted, I didn't play with the phone long, but it did not impress me.
I also have the BlackBerry Pearl. I was surprised by what the phone could do. I use mine tethered a lot to get on the internet when there isn't a wifi hotspot available. It works nicely and speed is decent. I can also take files from my PC with me on the phone and edit them, then put them back on my PC when I get home. I haven't tried any of the 3rd party apps since they all cost money. I am all about free and this phone gets a 7 out of 10 for being free.

I switched from Sprint to AT&T just to get the iPhone. I had a BlackBerry Pearl and 'upgraded' to the iPhone last year. Big mistake!
No tethering
The GPS was horrible
Damn phone doesn't even copy and paste!
Sync with Outlook was pitiful
No SprintTV! LOL
All those commercials saying there is an app for that ... well, I didn't even get that far because the iPhone was so annoying. Last time I jump at the next great thing! Apple seems to be falling victim to what made Microsoft so great, then so not so great, the features are coming before the platform!
Anyways, I got rid of the iPhone and got a BlackBerry Curve. I am starting to notice AT&T sucks for features on the BlackBerry, but their reception for conversations is better than Sprint. I think the BB Curve would be a better phone with Sprint and probably blows the iPhone out of the water.

I have the Samsung Rant and it was the best phone I had ever had until something went drastically wrong recently.
The phone has calendaring, memo, email for multiple accounts, bluetooth, TV, GPS ... the works. Recently it stopped receiving email and none of the kids working in the Sprint stores seem to be able to figure out what has gone wrong with the phone. I get a S7809 error claiming I don't have enough storage ... but I have a 2GB empty memory card in the phone.
The phone is great besides this setback. It automatically locks and has a real keyboard when you slide the phone open. Sprint does not allow me to tether the phone as some of you do with the BlackBerry, but it is still a great phone. The speakerphone is easily accessible and sounds good. The phone looks hot and gets compliments all the time. This is the best phone I have ever had!
