Bare Minimum Equipment 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
The economy has me down right now but I still want to start playing golf. What is the bare minimum set of clubs I could buy and be able to go to the driving range and then begin playing 9 or maybe even 18 holes?

Thanks.

Putter. 7 iron. Driver
The best way to think your way around a golf course or the driving range is to use feel with a minimum of clubs. Stay at the range until you completely understand the game. Especially etiquette. A golf course is not somewhere to learn the game. The driving range is. There is usually a pro or at the very least someone to talk to about the game. A great idea is to read an instruction book and take it to the range.

j123 is correct, stay on the driving range until you have a grip on the game.

Don't just start playing 9 holes or you may be in for a rude introduction to the game of golf.

As far as clubs, go to a local sports shop who sells used equipment. Ask them for a set of starter clubs and you can probably get a decent starter set for less than $200, $300 tops.
